The Daily Camera presumes to know what's best for CU (ht Leah)

The Camera editor accuses CU of planning to "sue" Churchill. She doesn't understand that CU won the case, and needs only to submit a bill to Churchill, not sue him. Mighty white of her to just give away $50K of other people's money to Mr. Churchill.

Money is an important natural resource, Noj. Sadly, the temporary custodians of it often require firm direction from concerned altruists to ensure its proper distribution.

I'm starting to wonder if Chutch might not appeal after all. I mean, $50k is a big number, and if he could skate on that bill by not appealing, that's got to be a serious option.
Churchill says he'll bend but not break. I guess we'll soon find out how far he'll bend over for $50K.
— Noj - 10 July '09 - 14:59
If he loses his appeal(s), won't that 50k figure increase? There must be more costs higher up.
— Amy - 10 July '09 - 15:57
Noj: “Churchill says he'll bend but not break. I guess we'll soon find out how far he'll bend over for $50K.”
That’s the question, isn’t it? Churchill has already squandered a consider amount on this trial and Lane didn’t get a payout. To win an appeal is going to require Churchill to pony up even more money. Something I’ve noticed is that Ward wants others to invest in his defense but seems a little shy doing it himself.
I think you’ve got it exactly right, Noj. When it comes down to the decision, is Churchill going to soldier on or ask for the hot lead enema?
I’d like to see him appeal this thing for at least the next decade. Or is he going to come up with some weasely rationalization and punk out?

Lurch's predictable "tough guy" posture is laughable as he snivels that he won't bend nor break. Whether Lurch was a LRRP, typist, or truck driver, he obeyed all his orders in Vietnam, right? Some rebel. Does anyone remember how his loyalty oath was missing from his CU personnel file in 2005 and how Lurch resolved the dilemma? He QUIETLY signed another oath while refusing comment to the media. He NEEDED the job so he could sue after being fired from it, so why make an issue of a loyalty oath? Only fools think he is motivated by principle. He signed his LOYALTY OATH like a Good Soldier, a good little Eichmann. Yeah, some tough guy. Now he snivels (boo hoo, boo hoo) that he won't bend nor break. Yeah (ha, ha, ha, ha, ha), sure, a real tough guy.

Ward Churchill is a broken man, and he'll never recover. He is totally disgraced. His life's work has been revealed as a sham. His biography has been revealed as a sham. He has lost his career and his reputation as a consequence. His only solace is that sweet pension, and the attention of a few hundred crackpot followers around the country.
Churchill will limp forward, speaking to an ever dwindling audience of true believers. He'll play the part of First Amendment victim, and get some undeserved attention that way. But he'll never be taken seriously ever again. That's got to hurt. He may not be completely broken, but he's bent over double and he's never going to stand up straight again.
— Noj - 11 July '09 - 14:00
“He may not be completely broken, but he's bent over double and he's never going to stand up straight again.”
And Whitmer’s off sucking up to Johnny Depp.
— Fred - 11 July '09 - 15:21
I don't read much of the Hollywood news, so I'm ignorant, Fred. What would Whitmer have to offer that would be of any interest to Johnny Depp?
— Laurie - 12 July '09 - 13:06
Oh-so-kissable lips? Employee discount at Payless Shoes?
— [jwpaine] () (URL) - 12 July '09 - 14:19
“What would Whitmer have to offer that would be of any interest to Johnny Depp?”
About the same he offered Churchill. Ward stumbled, Whitmer’s moving on and seems to have directed his attention to a teen idol with a gangster movie currently playing. Guns, violence, the heroic bad boy—these are big Whitmer themes, Ben’s fantasy world.

“What would Whitmer have to offer that would be of any interest to Johnny Depp?”
Thirty minutes in heaven, from a pro.
