The Rocky Mountain News says 5 of 9 Regents are opposed to any buyout, Churchill attorney David Lane retorts:

"I guess they (the regents) better get used to having Professor Churchill around," Lane said. "The issue is not should they fire him or buy him out. The issue is can they fire him." [emphasis ours]

I keep wondering when the regents are going to say, "Hey, we've got all these scandals. We've hit rock bottom. Let's not start digging." But no, here we go, they're hoping we'll forget about this story.

They have got to grow a spine.

The Churchill scandal is just the tip of a very ugly iceberg that extends well beyond the state of Colorado. If the faculty is willing to accept academic fraud as a credential for tenure, then the university administration has to step in and set things right. If the university administration doesn't step up to the plate, then the regents have to step in and set things right. If the regents don't act, then it's up to the governor. Academic freedom doesn't apply to just leftwing faculty members. CU has a bad reputation for imposing political correctness on aspiring faculty members, and that kind of nonsense has to stop. NOW!

Consider me thick as dirt and twice as dumb, but I fail to understand the connection between Ward Churchill and Mayor Guiliani. Please explain, either here or privately.
