CU students' 'Distinguished Speaker's Board' brings in Rudy Giuliani to speak on "Leadership During Difficult Times" (Giuliani's honorarium plus travel expenses: $180,000)
Rocky Mountain News: Churchill Review due out March 28
David Kopel of The Volokh Conspiracy soundly rebuts 'The First Amendment Defense of Ward Churchill'
from our 'Rue the Day' department: Churchill said during this Feb. 8 interview that plagiarism would be "an example of conduct falling below minimum standards of professional integrity" and challenged anyone to find evidence of it in his work
Out-of-Context, Nonviolent Churchill Quote of the Day:
"These megastates are not immutable. They can be taken apart. They can be destroyed. But first we have to decide that we can do it and that we will do it."
Rocky Mountain News: Churchill claims he wasn't author of 'plagiarized article' in State of Native America
"About the Contributor's" section of the book, however, says "Churchill assumed a lead role in preparing" the article
PB's "Churchill's Vietnam Fraud" story has been updated today to include new information
CU Regents plan to look into Churchill's quick acquisition of tenure
The Rocky Mountain News says 5 of 9 Regents are opposed to any buyout, Churchill attorney David Lane retorts:
"I guess they (the regents) better get used to having Professor Churchill around," Lane said. "The issue is not should they fire him or buy him out. The issue is can they fire him." [emphasis ours]
CU's review of Churchill may not be released for another two weeks
Denver Post article hints at private funds being used for buyout, says all CU Regents are now opposed to a buyout
I keep wondering when the regents are going to say, "Hey, we've got all these scandals. We've hit rock bottom. Let's not start digging." But no, here we go, they're hoping we'll forget about this story.
They have got to grow a spine.

The Churchill scandal is just the tip of a very ugly iceberg that extends well beyond the state of Colorado. If the faculty is willing to accept academic fraud as a credential for tenure, then the university administration has to step in and set things right. If the university administration doesn't step up to the plate, then the regents have to step in and set things right. If the regents don't act, then it's up to the governor. Academic freedom doesn't apply to just leftwing faculty members. CU has a bad reputation for imposing political correctness on aspiring faculty members, and that kind of nonsense has to stop. NOW!

Consider me thick as dirt and twice as dumb, but I fail to understand the connection between Ward Churchill and Mayor Guiliani. Please explain, either here or privately.
