Courtesy Leah (who else?), here's video of The Perfesser lout-shouting in Arizona last Friday. (just click the "On Demand" button and select "Live Show Fri Nov 13 2009"; there are two videos so-titled; pick the one with "06:20:55 PM" as the second title line)

Update: DrunkaHegemonist has more on this, plus news of a Ward Churchill Teach-In (supporting the release of incarcerated Tupac Shakur père Mutulu Shakur) scheduled for November 28th. Where, you might ask? According to the site D-a-B references, it's at "Sisters of Color 2895 8th Ave, Denver, CO (8th and federal across the street from the bus yard)".

Churchill opened his mouth and lied -- but I repeat myself.

"Apartheed"?

Heed the apartness.

  — Charley Arthur () - 17 November '09 - 21:50
Fuck.

  — Charley Arthur () - 17 November '09 - 21:50
He sounds pretty good.

One thing he presented inaccurately was the basis of support by germans in the german state for expansion into Poland as a 'lebensraum' campaign. Actually, previous to the creation of large european states, there were small fiefdoms spread around central europe. People with german dialects were scattered all over the place. After WW1, they redrew the lines and Poland and czechoslovakia were given a lot of traditionally german speaking areas as a territorial reduction, and there was an intermediate level of ethnic cleansing (shipping germans to germany). That, plus the high taxes under the versailles treaty is what caused popular support for taking the territory back. After WW2, there was strong ethnic cleansing- regions like Silesia and Danzig/Gdansk had been long term german speaking, with a relatively high fraction of jewish residents, and they were all shipped to new east german state and new people took the houses and street signs were changed to polish, i.e. naziism was an imperialist philosophy, but the reason the public would join the army to support imperialist expansion was because they felt like victims who had had land/money taken from them in wwi.

Thanx.

  — Charley Arthur - 18 November '09 - 16:38
Hilda, you're the left-loony version of Snaps.

  — jgm () (URL) - 18 November '09 - 18:53
At least Snaps has a suspicion of what is right. Hilda just buys whatever bullshit The Perfesser's academic roachcoach is peddling today.

  — jwpaine () (URL) - 18 November '09 - 19:58
Hilda violates the third rule of robotics by willfully inducing hazardous levels of boredom.

Speaking of effective, well-thought-out protests against the Pernicious American Muder Hegemony Dialectic Machine Paradigm, a bunch of UCLA students locked themselves into (and other students out of) an ethnic studies classroom to protest tuition hikes.

First of all, the tuition is going up because California is broke, and the reason California is broke is because of its stupid, confiscatory tax structure, and the iron grip of the state teacher's union.

Second, doesn't disrupting victims studies classes kind of interfere with the whole idea of, you know, teaching people about how evil and crappy America is? Maybe mull that one over guys...

Oh, and in the Economics and Science buildings, classes went along as normal. Of course, there are no more American students in those departments, so those students probably figured the tuition protests were just another Earth First or LGBATCo/a parade...

  — Klaymore () - 19 November '09 - 18:53
Oh, and I meant to post the link...

  — Klaymore () - 19 November '09 - 18:54
Thirty-two percent tuition hike, right, Klaymore? Cali is maybe the most beautiful state (Colorado a close second), but, God, what a mess.

  — jgm () (URL) - 19 November '09 - 20:44
Sybil, believe it or not -- Churchill's grasp of African history in that video is even weaker than his German history.

  — Noj - 20 November '09 - 20:52
look - they are shoving for about two minutes, but neither the police or students actually seem to be trying to move north or south. They are standing in place.(they actually did break a grad students hand by banging it with a baton as she held a metal fence) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOI5l2_RghQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qODFzQTGjaY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Frr6qPySVak

I particularly like the graph about halfway down the front page - increasing adjustments to temperature values over the years have the same shape as the hockey stick:
